The charming resort Bad Gastein (1,002 m) lies in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, in the heart of Salzburger Land. Its landmark, the Gasteiner waterfall, falls impressively over three levels approx. 300 m in the centre of the resort. Numerous grand hotels from the imperial era are sprinkled along the steep alleys on the mountain slope, as are many belle epoque structures, characterising the townscape. Winter dreams come true here: the spa and thermal facilities promise pure relaxation; the large selection of leisure time activities ensure athletic variety in addition to the first-rate ski area; shopping fans can follow their passions in the many boutiques and shops and fans of chance can put their luck to the test in the casino. Also a plus is the glass connection tunnel, through which you can reach the futuristic cliff thermals facility from the valley station. This is situated in a former, 2.5 km long mining tunnel. Whether skier, snowboarder, relaxation seeker or family with children, you will feel right at home!
