Walchsee is located right on the shore of the lake at an altitude of 668 m. The sunny resort is situated in the centre of a picturesque landscape at the foot of the Zahmen Kaiser. Winter hikers and cross-country skiers can take off from the Walchsee on vast tours, curling fans and ice skaters will thoroughly enjoy the lakes that have frozen over and adventurers will get their money's worth with an extensive snowshoe hike! Not only children's pulses will be racing at a tobogganing party at the local tobogganing run. Skiers can get to the Zahmer Kaiser lifts in a matter of minutes, and the lower mountain pastures can be reached by ski bus.

| The lift pass "Hochkössen" is valid for 11 lifts and 30 km of piste on the local Kössen mountain. Therefore you have access to a family-friendly ski area up to approx. 1,700 m altitude. Due to its geographical location on the Northern brim of the Alps, the region is known for its snow-reliability and great conditions from mid December until the beginning of April. Additional snow canons ensure the valley run is open as long as possible. From Kössen you take the modern 6-person gondola up to the "Bärenhütte". Whilst beginners can enjoy the sunny high plateau, more experienced skiers can dare a go on the "black" valley descent. Great deep powder snow areas, all secured, are to be found at the Unterbergalm and partly also along the valley run. With the "Alpen Plus - Holiday Card" you have access to a total of 160 km of piste and 75 lift systems. You will surely find lots to do in the ski areas Hochkössen, Hocheck-Oberaudorf, Sudelfeld, Brauneck, Wallberg, Spitzing and Zahmer Kaiser/Walchsee. Snow parks, children's areas and the possibility to take part in night skiing promise exciting holidays in midst of a wonderful natural landscape. |
