The state-recognised spa resort St. Englmar is situated at an altitude of 800 m and is known as the centre of winter sports in the Bavarian Forest. The lovely village is located on a southern slope of a mountain range in the Bavarian Forest and offers ideal conditions for skiing, winter hiking, tobogganing or horse-drawn sleigh rides. The Arber, the Bavarian Forest's highest mountain at 1,456 m, became well-known due to the international ski world cup.
